Building chirambaht.info

There is a lot that goes into making a website. Here’s my experience building this one. If you are not tech savvy, good luck.

This was time spent developing the main website including some of it’s content. This involved correcting all the responsive features as well as backend server management.

What’s running this website?

Currently it is being hosted on a virtual machine that’s running a single core Intel Xeon 2GHz processor somewhere in this world (not revealed for safety reasons).

So did you just CSS and HTML this site?

Not a chance! I added a few tweaks here and there but most of the heavy lifting was done by WordPress, Customify and Elementor.

What were the stages?

  1. Find the motivation.
  2. Server set up.
  3. WordPress installation.
  4. Theme adjustments.
  5. Main site construction.
  6. Support content generation.
As is expected, there was a lot of debug time as well spent in between these stages.

So you did this all on your own?

Most of the backend work was done in collaboration with a friend who knows way more about it than I do, even till now. There were a couple of my feeble hard headed attempts at doing things my own way that failed and he managed to resolve them for me.

Any optimisations?

A couple of WordPress plugins, but the main one was to use Cloudflare to help deliver the page must faster to users. It also helped with the SSL certification.

Did anyone ask you these questions?

No, but this is how every other website’s FAQ section works!
